U2 Cancels St. Louis Concert Amidst City's Heated Protests

U2 have cancelled their Saturday night (September 16) show in St. Louis due to safety concerns amidst the city's heated protests.

"We have been informed by the St. Louis Police Department that they are not in a position to provide the standard protection for our audience as would be expected for an event of this size," the band wrote in a statement, which was posted on their Facebook page the morning of the show.

"We have also been informed that local crowd security personnel would not be at full capacity. In light of this information, we cannot in good conscience risk our fans’ safety by proceeding with tonight’s concert," the statement continued. "As much as we regret having to cancel, we feel it is the only acceptable course of action in the current environment."

If you purchased tickets via Live Nation and U2Fans, you'll be able to receive a refund on the credit card that the tickets were ordered on. Refunds for non-internet purchases will also be available as soon as Monday 10 AM at point of purchase.

In case you missed it, protesters took to the St. Louis streets on Friday morning after a judge found former police officer Jason Stockley not guilty of first-degree murder for the 2011 death of Anthony Lamar Smith.
