We're just about a month away until Season 2 of Netflix's The Umbrella Academy and the show has been teasing fans with plenty of hints into what's in store for the Hargreeves siblings.
On Monday (June 29), the show's social media pages sent fans into a frenzy when a brand new show poster was uploaded.
“They’re back…in time. The Umbrella Academy returns July 31,” the Netflix show captioned the poster with a sunglasses emoji.
The poster features all the siblings and also gave fans a new tagline for the show: “Same weird Family. New weird problems.”
As fans of the show have come to learn and know, we can't take the poster at face value. Just like the first images from Season 2 that were shared earlier this month, the new image is filled with Easter eggs about what's to come.
If you look closely, there is a different image in each character's sunglasses (new characters!) and a hint as to the 1960s timeline each sibling will be in.
It's good to point out a few key things that happened in the 1960s including: JFK's assassination (in Dallas where this season takes place!), Civil Rights protests, the Vietnam War (remember when “Klaus” got sent there last season?), the moon landing, and the Peace Moratorium.
It looks like a few of these will be part of Season 2 judging from the reflections in “Klaus,” “Luther,” and “Allison's” sunglasses.
Thankfully, we do have the official synopsis to tell us what to expect:
Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right—the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which—spoiler alert!—turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.
July 31 can't come soon enough!
